My greatest achievements.

November 20, 2009 at 10:10 pm (MRI blogs, Musings) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Today when chatting with a friend I was reminded how much things have changed and the sorts of events and achievements that I have had since starting in Second Life. Back in the day when I first started out it was an achievement for me to actually move around with out bumping into people and going into sims half dressed 😉 I finally progressed to an acceptable avi that soon learnt in a few weeks the ins and out of navigating around Second Life as well as how to put together a moderately well made avi. Although I did have to answer the question of was I an alt a billion times. We move forward a few months and I was sucessful in aquring a job for Kayia Islands at one of their sims called Cupids Lagoon. It was a dream job in those times 🙂 Hosting a venue with some fab people learning lots in Second Life and enjoying a job I loved to do. Sadly I had to leave as I was possibly moving in real life and also I wanted to spend a little more time doing my real life job. After a few months things settled down and I decided that it was time to try a new venture. That was when modeling came along and tempted me. So I signed up to a few agencies and it was Modelpages International that won my heart. My first big achievement there was to start the programme with them. Then I was lucky enough to graduate all be it a little later then I had hoped due to real life interruptions. Graduation day was wonderful and my first real live fashion show with them. I also managed in the same month to get selected for Miss Refined International and as a new model it was a huge achievement. Next along the line was to be lucky enough to be accepted to Rock Me Amadaeus as a in store model. I love working for the store and my family of girls are the best. In the last two months I think my greatest achievement has been being accepted into the Miss Refined contest. It was a great honour to be put through in Septembers round and I am totally enjoying the challenges to make it through to the finals. Recently I have also spent time on the House of Beningborough runway. It was also another highlight in my modeling career to have my pictures chosen as weekly winners with some of the best in the business. Of course there have been many others like walking in shows for a variety of other agencies. But to me these are the ones that stick out them most.

To finish with I want to try and include a song that I find inspirational. I played this for children in Year 6 in my RL job – we try to encourage them to stive for the skies 🙂 It is their last year in our primary school age and a great song for end of year to help them remember how great they are 😉

World’s Greatest
Album: Chocolate Factory (2003)

I am a mountain
I am a tall tree
Ohhh, I am a swift wind
Sweepin’ the country
I am a river
Down in the valley
Ohhh, I am a vision
And I can see clearly
If anybody asks u who I am
Just stand up tall look ’em in the Face and say

I’m that star up in the sky
I’m that mountain peak up high
I made it
I’m the worlds greatest
And I’m that little bit of hope
When my backs against the ropes
I can feel it mmm
I’m the worlds greatest

I am a giant
I am an eagle
I am a lion
Down in the jungle
I am a marchin’ band
I am the people
I am a helpin’ hand
And I am a hero
If anybody asks u who I am
Just stand up tall look ’em in the Face and say

I’m that star up in the sky
I’m that mountain peak up high
I made it
I’m the worlds greatest
And I’m that little bit of hope
When my backs against the ropes
I can feel it
I’m the worlds greatest

Makes me smile

Meeting people…

November 13, 2009 at 11:32 pm (Miss Refined International, MRI blogs) (, , , , , , , , , )

Well as part of the Miss Refined International contest we are meeting people that we might not have met till much later on in their life. Some of the people we meet in the paths we take can affect the way we are or how we deal with others in the future. I would say that it was nice being friends with Queen before we both went into MRI – I had already made the September cut and she was going for the October group. I had not realised she was in my group for when we tried out in September as I didn’t know her at that stage. We met much later on in one of the other agencies we both attend. I have mentioned Queen a few times but over the course of MRI its been nice to have someone else to discuss the challenges the pitfalls and the positive aspects of not only MRI but of modeling in general. We talk to each other about what we are working on, offer advice and ask advice. At times we are in Beningborough together and it is always nice to have someone you can bounce ideas off against chat to and generally talk about the things we go through in SL. I’d like to consider her as a great friend. I have also had the pleasure in meeting one or two of the others and trained with Saleena Hax but it has been with Queen I have made the greatest connection. Its nice to have some close friends of such a lovely nature 🙂

A new day … a new challenge.

November 11, 2009 at 9:05 pm (Miss Refined International, MRI blogs) (, , , , , , , )

Well I popped online for a little weeee while this morning and logged into Second Life and low and behold what should be upon us but the new challenge for Miss Refined International. Mhhhh I thought to myself was there the faint sounds of that Mission Impossible them playing again or am I just imagining it again 🙂 Darts a quick look around for Tom again. Just my luck he isn’t here…..
Opening up my envelope I can tell something important is inside. On a crisp white piece of paper is written the information needed to complete challenge 2 of our 3 and half challenges. This half part intrigues me so much 🙂 Will we wear half a dress will I have to write half a blog only time will tell.
The mission should we choose to accept it is to do one of the following…
Option [1]: Create a before and after photo. Just one photo (merged), Label the top-left side of the photo as “Before Miss Refined…” and I want you to look the same as you were when you were a newbie. On the top right, I want you to be styled for perfection and label that, “Now, I Am Refined”. Your name will also be somewhere on the photo. The photos will be ranked for originality, design and creativeness – 10 Points Possible

Option [2]: Develop and submit a 10 point (concepts) marketing plan for the blog you created in challenge 1. You must use at least one marketing E-Book purchased from http://www.kissmyebook.com and you must provide in your plan, the title of the E-Book(s) used and page number(s) where you found the information.

Both really interest me as I do have a hard time using Photoshop Pro or any of those editing aspects and have only done the sort of picture talked about once before 🙂 and the business side of it peaks my interest in expanding something I have no knowledge of. Jason has suggested that we can do both and then the highest score of the best one will be used. Again always wanting to try something different this tickles my fancy to try both 🙂

So with only a few days to get sorted I am madly reading up on things and madly finding out as much as I can to work on my picture. I am picking the brains of all I know to try to find out about the things I think will help not only with the picture but with the marketing plan .

Watch this space 🙂
Ill let you know how it all goes.

New things.

November 10, 2009 at 9:32 am (competitions, Life of SL Model, Modeling world) (, , , , , , , , )

Well thought it might be nice after a few days rest just catching up with what I have been doing… Life RL wise has been full on. Have been without work for a few months – and I hear you all going awwwwww. It ok cause there is good bits and bad bits. Firstly it was wild to have more holidays then I can poke a stick at. Although after the school holidays were done and everyone was going back I felt a little sad for all of five seconds. Then a few weeks later reality set in and I realised 1. Money doesn’t grow on trees – damn it. 2. I will have to start getting work – not that I have not tried before! So after all those thoughts I finally knuckled down and signed with two agencies and awaited my CRB. And I waited ….. And I waited…. And I waited……. About one and half months later I finally was able to start working and ever since that day I have not stopped with being called in for jobs. Let alone this week I have done five days worth of work. So RL was kicking in and then we had a step up in SL. I had lots of time to do at the two shops I model in – Rock Me Amadeus – which is my regular store and a totally wicked place to go. I have also lately as I mentioned in previous posts been modeling in House of Beningborough for their competition and I love that as I get to be on runway with my friends Queenbrat , Elyna and Kat. It is nice when we get to chat but Sunday was a total nightmare as everything was discounted 🙂 At the same time it was fun to see what happens on a madhouse day 🙂
Well with all the challenge things to do , my hours to work, preparing pictures for a few competitions and trying to spend time with Shal just about burnt myself out. But as always we managed to find time and I manage to get everything done RL and SL.

Here is a picky of my latest for HOB

Fancy bumping into you!!

November 8, 2009 at 10:06 pm (Life of SL Model, MRI blogs) (, , , , , , )

Well today I went to Beningborough as I have been selected for Week 2 to be a runway model and show the lovely designs of Miss Bliss Beningborough ( http://houseofbeningborough.wordpress.com ). This is the second week in a row that I have been so fortunate enough to do this. Next week will be the last week so I am hoping that I will be good enough to continue again another week on the runway.
house-of-beningborough-logo2

It was total mania today as the ever gracious Bliss had heavily slashed her prices and all the people that belong to the group were in to see what lovely items they might purchase… Yes yes I did get a few myself 🙂
As part of the role on the runway I was to say hello and greet those that entered the store. I like this part as I love the idea of a personal greeting and hello to each and every customer. So myself and one of my other friends Elyna Carver who also appeared on the runway this week were saying hello when in came Katherine Comet (also a contestant for Miss Refined International). It is always lovely to see her as she is very graceful indeed and I do enjoy watching shows she is in. We were chatting about the task at hand with the blogs and finding the times in our busy schedule to complete them. It is funny how even though one gets so busy we still find the time to add more into the day 🙂
It was great to catch up with her again and to wish her well in the comp. I do enjoy chatting with people and she is lovely to chat to, I am sure she will have bought something simply stunning from the range. I didn’t know it at the time but she was a regular up on the runway at HOB. Strange this world really but it does not surprise me 🙂 Well must dash I have to see what I can put with my outfits for my new round of pictures. Fingers crossed I get in for week 3 🙂

Friends I have made with MRI

November 7, 2009 at 11:59 pm (Miss Refined International, MRI blogs) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

It is really quite interesting how since being selected for Miss Refined International how many of these lovely ladies I have come across in the modeling world. I was amazed what a great line up of people were in the group. We have a range of models that are well known and have modeled for many months or even years to other newly qualified models and even people that work within the fashion and beauty industry within many roles. Some of the ladies I have a great admiration for and have seen walk the runway. I remember going to watch shows where people like Precious Mannonen and Katherine Comet were showing lovely designs and I thought to myself how lovely it would be to look as graceful as them and wondering if I could work the room as good as they do 🙂 Through to newly graduated people like beauty Lourbridge who I helped walk with on her graduation show and paris Spingflower who I managed to see walk in her graduation show from ClassicwithStyle.
There are models I trained with at MPI such as Rachel Carstensz and Saleena Hax who are of exceptional quality and people that through other agencies I have walked with like Marianna Cortez and Queenbrat Bracken and models that I now pose in store like Queen and Lela Exonar at House of Beningborough. Finally and by no means lastly Dico who is part of the team at MPI and have worked with her for our graduation show.

It is great no matter what our walk in life in RL and also what defines us in SL we can all come together and through that make friends. I have become great friends with Queen and we really enjoy talking about modeling and also about the trials and tribulations of all that goes with modeling. We help each other when stuck on various things and when looking for that right sort of hair or wanting a second opinion on styling. It is nice to have someone to bounce things off against to help you when your stuck and to tell you things honestly and with good intention. I would say that in Queen I have found a true SL friend and confidant and that makes me feel very happy about getting to know such wonderful ladies through an event like this 🙂

Just another day…

November 4, 2009 at 4:01 pm (competitions, Life of SL Model, Modeling world) (, , , , , , , , )

Well today has been mainly about being a Runway Model in store for House of Beningborough – I was lucky enough to enter my pictures in a Beningborough designed outfit for Week 1 of November and now have the chance if my work is good enough through pictorial form and through my in store modeling to be chosen for Model of the Month.  The prizes are amazing but above and beyond that it is also the chance to model in one of my, no I must say it the  most favourite store of mine in SL.  Here are the pics I put in for the first week entry. These were the ones or one of the ones that afforded me the placement in her model team for Week 1 and I am on tenterhooks about if I have made it for Week 2.

Keeley Cooperstone - 1

Later today I am on a hair mission so will be visiting a plethora of stores in search for any new interesting and never seen before hair – MMh I wonder if that is possible at all… If you happen to see some great hair and think I should check it out contact me in world or leave me a little message right here 🙂
